Questions
The things people ask before they buy.
If your question is not here, write to us — a person answers, usually the same day.
What thread count should I look for?
Above about 400, thread count stops meaning anything: mills reach higher numbers by counting each ply of a twisted thread separately. A genuine 300 percale from long-staple cotton beats a claimed 1000 from short fibres every time. Look at the fibre and the weave first, the number last.
Linen or cotton?
Linen if you sleep hot, want the cloth to get better for a decade, and like a lived-in look. Cotton sateen if you want smooth and cool to the touch. Percale if you want the crisp, dry feel of a good hotel. Flannel if the bedroom is cold.
Will the linen be scratchy?
No. Ours is stonewashed before it ships, so it is soft on the first night. It keeps softening for years after that.
What size do I need?
Measure the mattress — width, length and depth — not the bed frame. Our size guide lists the four duvet sizes against mattress widths. If you are between two, take the larger: an overhang that is too short is the usual complaint.
How deep are the fitted sheets?
A 40 cm skirt, which covers mattresses up to about 35 cm deep, including most with a topper.
Do the colours match between orders?
Yes, within a season. We buy from the same mills in the same dye lots, so shams bought in November sit correctly next to a cover bought in March. Across years, tiny variation is possible — write to us and we will tell you honestly.
When will it arrive?
Germany 1–2 working days, the EU 2–4, the UK and Switzerland 3–6, elsewhere 5–12. Orders before 14:00 CET leave the next working day.
Is shipping free?
Over €150 within the EU, over €250 to the UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, over €350 elsewhere.
Can I return it?
Thirty days, unwashed and in its packaging. Write to us with the order number and we send a return label. Refunds land back on the paying card within about five working days of the parcel reaching us.
Something arrived damaged.
Send us a photograph within thirty days and we replace it. You do not need to return a faulty piece.
Are the dyes safe?
All our fabrics use OEKO-TEX certified dyes. This cloth is against your skin for a third of your life; that is not a place to economise.
Do you take card payments securely?
Card details are entered on Stripe, never on our site. We never see or store a card number.
